  Stress has received considerable attention in the past few years as an important etiological factor in the development of Psychiatric Diseases, leading to significant changes to the organism.

Besides clinical approach, the consequences of stress have been investigated by using different animal models in non-clinical approaches that has provided information on the neural substrates and mechanisms underlying such changes.

  By using scientific discussion as an integrative tool, the symposium also aims at promoting the integration between Brazilian research groups and the ones represented by our guests by discussing the neurobiology of stress. Considering this we will also discuss the consequences of ethanol consumption, considering its action in the central nervous system. Such approach would allow further work in collaboration.

  To emphasize such idea, we included two poster sessions, apart from all lectures. We also included two sessions of “Meet the Professor”, during which small groups of attendants will be able to discuss with our guests their research.

  We would like to invite you to join us in this scientific discussion. We hope that this is the first of several meetings that allow the creation of an environment more conducive to intellectual growth and the establishment of collaborations between laboratories around the world.
